Integrated Psychiatry: Therapy + Medication Management

Most psychiatrists today limit their practice to medication management — brief appointments focused on adjusting prescriptions. Dr. Agresti takes a fundamentally different approach: combining psychotherapy and medication management in a single, integrated treatment relationship.

When your therapist and your prescribing physician are the same person, care is seamlessly coordinated. Insights from therapy can immediately inform medication decisions. Medication side effects can be addressed in the context of your ongoing therapeutic work. Nothing gets lost between providers.

Psychotherapy Modalities

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Gold-standard evidence-based therapy. Identifies and challenges negative thought patterns contributing to depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. Typically 12–16 sessions. Proven effective across a wide range of psychiatric conditions.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Explores unconscious patterns, past experiences, and relationship dynamics that influence current behavior. Longer-term engagement. Particularly effective for personality disorders, chronic depression, and relationship issues.

Supportive Psychotherapy

Focuses on strengthening coping mechanisms, building self-esteem, and providing emotional support during crisis or life transitions. Integrates elements from multiple approaches.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Collaborative, non-confrontational approach that addresses ambivalence about change. Particularly effective for substance abuse, medication adherence, and behavioral change.

Crisis Intervention

Short-term, focused therapy for acute psychiatric crises. Stabilization, safety planning, and rapid symptom reduction.
